Licensing

Three different licences

They cover different things and are easy to confuse, so here they are separately.

1 · Book licence

The book text

Copyright © 2026 Hayden Fisher Technologies, Inc. All rights reserved.

The manuscript, figures, tables and typesetting are copyrighted works. They are not open source and are not published under any open licence. Buying an edition licenses one person to read, print, search, annotate and quote reasonably from it. It does not permit redistribution, resale, or republication.

Your PDF carries a discreet notice identifying the licence it was issued under. That is for traceability, not restriction: the file itself is an ordinary PDF with nothing disabled.

2 · Companion code licence

The laboratory code

Apache License 2.0.

The 25 laboratories, dataset generators, notebooks and benchmark harnesses are distributed under Apache-2.0. You may use them commercially, modify them, and build on them, subject to that licence.

This does not extend to the book. Apache-2.0 covers the companion code only. The two are distributed separately and deliberately. The code being open does not make the manuscript open.

3 · Team and commercial licence

Teaching and team use

A standard purchase licenses one reader. Using the book to train a team, teach a course, or run commercial training needs an Instructor / Team licence, which adds multi-seat rights, instructor materials and an assessment bank.

That edition is not yet on sale. Write to contacts@haydenfishertech.com if you need it before it launches.

In one line each

  • The book is copyrighted and licensed to you personally.
  • The companion code is Apache-2.0 and yours to build on.
  • Team and training use needs its own licence.
